There are a lot of students who want to become teachers in the future and the first step in becoming a teacher in the Philippines is by studying education. There are a lot of schools offering education in the Philippines because it is one of the most popular degrees especially after the implementation of the K-12 curriculum. And these schools offer the required degrees for aspiring Filipino teachers such as Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Elementary Education. There is a Licensure Examination for Teachers given by Professional Regulation Commission that can be taken after taking the education programs. De la Salle University is the top teacher education school in the Philippines with a weighted ranking of 99.4%, University of the Philippines - Diliman comes in second with 99.2%, followed by Assumption College, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo de Davao University with 98.7%, Philippine Normal University and St. Theresa's College - Cebu with 98.6%, Philippines Normal University - Isabela Campus with 98.1%, Miriam College with 98.0% and Bohol Wisdom College completes the list with 97.8%

Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) is a four year degree program designed to prepare students for becoming high school teachers. The program combines both theory and practice in order to teach students the necessary knowledge and skills a high school teacher needs. The BSEd program trains students to teach one of the different learning areas such as English, Mathematics, General Science, Filipino, Social Studies, Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH) and Home Economics and Livelihood Education. Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) is also a four year degree program designed to prepare students to become primary school teachers. The program combines both theory and practice in order to teach students the necessary knowledge and skills a primary school teacher needs. There are several major fields of concentration in the BEED program, namely Early Childhood Education, Special Education, General Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Filipino, Social Studies Music, Arts and Physical Education (MAPE) and Technology and Home Economics (THE).
Non-education graduates can also study education for them to be able to take the LET Examination. They can take up an 18–unit non-degree program that is offered to help those BA graduate professional students, in any field and who aspires to enter the teaching profession at the secondary education level either in private or public schools. The curriculum includes subjects in the professional education component of the teacher education program which are required by the Commission on Higher Education and the Professional Regulations Commission. The tuition fees from topnotch teacher education schools in the Philippines ranges from P2,000 to P225,000.
